Male and female Southern Sea Lions (otaria flavescens) on rocks on Sea Lion Island located 12 miles south of East Falkland in the Falkland Islands, South Atlantic Ocean. The bulls are twice the weight of the cows at 300 kg (660 lb) and grow up to 2.6 m (8.5 ft). Adult females are around 2 m (7 ft) in length. As such they are the most sexually dimorphic of the five sea lion species. The adult seals are orange-brown in colour with the males lighter than the females. The pups are born black or dark brown.
