The male blue or fairy-wren is one of the 12 species of Malurus genus found mainly in the south, south-east and eastern Australia. They are also found in Queensland Australia and lowland New Guinea in coastal, forrest and grasslands. This specimen is a 'Lovely Fairy-wren', 'Malurus amabilis' a bird in the Maluridae family. It prefers subtropical or tropical forests and subtropical or tropical moist dry lowland forests.
