Men's Track & Field Second to Ithaca at Liberty League Champs

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y.  – Rochester placed five men in the decathlon – including the top four finishers – as the Yellowjackets finished second in the Liberty League outdoor track & field championships at Vassar College on Saturday afternoon.
 
UR totaled 182 points. Ithaca College was first of the eight teams. The Bombers had 211 points. Rochester was second (182) with RPI third (145) and RIT fourth (129).
 
Alex Opsahl accumulate 5,895 points in the decathlon to finish first. Aeden Angelone was second with 5,819. Jarod Forer was third (5,471) with Colle Siewert fourth (4,678) and Lucas Thiele sixth (4,288).  In Saturday's four individual decathlon events, four of the five men finished with one victory. Opsahl won the javelin throw, was second in the discus and the pole vault,  and fourth in the 1,500. Angelone won the discus, was second in the javelin, third in the pole vault, and sixth in the 1,500. Forer claimed top honors in the pole vault, was third in the discus and javelin. Siewert was first in the 1,500, fourth in the discus, javelin, and pole vault. Thiele was third in the 1,500, fifth in the pole vault, sixth among the discus throwers, and seventh with the javelin.
 
Scott Sikorski was a double winner. He finished first in the 800 meters and the 1,500 meters. He had All-Atlantic Region qualifying times in both races. He was clocked in 3:55.55 for the 1,500 with Max Hughes in eighth place (4:04.40). In the 800, Sikorski crossed the finish line in 1:53.29 with Daniel Ford claiming fourth pace in 1:56.25, another A qualifying time.

UR had two top eight scorers in the hurdle events. Peter Brodnik was third in the 110 high hurdles (:16.01) and Adam Smith was seventh (:17.16). John Moyer finished fourth in the 400 hurdles (:57.81) and Adam Smith was sixth (:59.13).
 
Matt Lienert placed third in the 200 (:22.41) and fourth in the 100 (:11.11). P.J. London was sixth in each race. He was timed in :22.98 in the 200 and :11.25 in the 100.
 
Rochester's 4x100 meter relay was second with an Atlantic Region qualifying time of :42.84 (Frederick Liu, Lienert, London, Manny Eribo). The 4x400 meter relay was third (3:24.41 – Lienert, Ford, Christian Voloshen, Sikorski).
 
In the field events, UR had three in the top seven of the triple jump, including the champion. Cole Goodman won the event with a leap pf 14.20 meters. Sam Lorenzetti was third, clearing 13.51 meters, and Kyle Lane was seventh (13.10 m.). Lorenzetti also scored sixth place points in the high jump (1.73 meters). Angelone was second, topping 1.83 meters and Liu was fourth with 1.83. Scoring placements based on fewer misses when the same height exists.
 
James O'Neill was sixth in the discus throw (40.69 m.) and sixth in the shot put (13.48 m.). Dylan Rykert was fifth in the shot put (13.61 m.) and Ryan Swavely was seventh (13.24 m.).
