Dewalt just came out with their first electric biscuit jointer, and we’re here to tell you all about it!

What is a biscuit jointer?

Biscuit jointing is the process of putting together two pieces of wood by making a notch in them and glueing a biscuit into it. The result is strong, reliable joints that stop your item from moving from side to side. On our blog, you can learn everything you need to know about biscuit jointing.

What can we expect from the DCW682?

The DW682 biscuit jointer from Dewalt is already plugged in. But now that solid surface and composite worktops are lighter, there is a greater need for biscuit jointers in kitchen and shop fitting. Cordless tools are slowly taking over the job site, so Dewalt knew they had to follow suit.

Getting rid of cords gives the user more freedom to move around the workshop without having to think about cables. This is the most productive way to work.

We have high hopes for it because it’s been a long time coming.

Dewalt says that this type can cut up to 600 joints, or 300 joints per charge.

Users can get exact results with #0, #10, and #20 biscuits when they use the DCW682. It’s also easy to change the height, width, and bevel because you don’t need any tools.

Its motor doesn’t have any brushes, so it cuts strongly and consistently. In fact, a 5.0 Ah battery can give you 917 W of power, which is a lot.

It is very easy to use because it has an electric brake, flexible anti-slip pins that help keep the material in place, and a paddle switch that can be used by people with either hand. With the built-in fence, it’s easy and quick to change the angle. From 0 to 90 degrees, this machine can bevel.

Connect it to a normal 35-mm dust extractor or a dust extractor that works with Dewalt’s AirLock system to keep dust away.

This model is, of course, compatible with all of Dewalt’s 18V XR batteries, so you can use the tools you already have to power it.

Who or what is this biscuit jointer suitable for?

  • Kitchen fitters
  • Cabinet makers
  • Shop fitting
  • General joinery

This type is great for a wide range of uses, especially in cabinet and joinery shops where thinner solid surfaces and composite worktops are in high demand.

Other features:

  • Auxiliary handles help line up the tool and make it safe to use with two hands.
  • The back grip is overmolded to make it more comfortable to use.
  • Fixing holes lets you connect it to a workbench, so you can use it over and over again.
  • Once the cookie joint is lined up, anti-slip pins keep it from moving. These pins can be taken out.
  • There are red centre marks that are easy to see and can be used to line up eight guide holes and a fence window for precise cuts.

DW682 vs. DCW682

Let’s compare the old model with a cord to the new one that doesn’t have one:

DW682 CordedDCW682 Cordless
  • No-load speed: 10,000 rpm
  • Max cutter diameter: 100 mm
  • Max cutting depth: 20 mm
  • Fence adjustment: 0-90 degrees
  • Joint groover setting: 4mm
  • Power output: 335W
  • Hand/arm vibration: 2.5 m/s2.
  • No-load speed: 9,000 rpm
  • Max cutter diameter: 102 mm
  • Max cutting depth: 20 mm
  • Fence adjustment: 0-90 degrees
  • Power output: 917W
  • Hand/arm vibration: 2.5 m/s2.

There isn’t much difference between the two types, which is always a plus when comparing cordless and corded tools. When you get rid of the cord, sometimes the power goes down, but this model has a huge increase in power output, a small drop in rotations per minute, and the same cutting abilities.
