XC438246 · Algerian Nuthatch · Sitta ledanti

Remarks from the Recordist

New fifth biotope for Algerian Nuthatch. The forest consists mainly of Algerian oaks and Mirbeck’s oaks (Quercus canariensis), as well as many Cork oaks (Quercus suber) but very few trees of African oak (Quercus afares). We also noted the presence of other families, such as the Bay laurel (Laurus nobilis), Wild cherry (Prunus avium) and Poplar (Populus). Therefore, the forest was dominated by Algerian Oaks (Quercus canariensis) which are the Nuthatch’s favorite habitat. For now and as a security measure the coordinates of the site are not 100% accurate.
