OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Another round of severe weather rolled across the area Monday night bringing numerous reports of hail, wind damage, and even a couple possible tornadoes. It appears one of those tornadoes impacted the Minden area once again.

Several quick developing areas of rotation popped along the line of storms as it moved across the area Monday evening. One of the strongest circulations developed just after 9pm to the east of Underwood, and tracked very near the town of Minden. Radar detected debris in the air as the storm passed by Minden, indicated that a brief tornado touchdown occurred. The rotation then tracked toward the Shelby area, with the debris signature dissipating. This path passed just a block or two away from the track of the EF-3 tornado that devastated the area back on April 26th.

Early assessments from Pottawatomie County officials indicate seven properties in Minden and a hog confinement were impacted by the storm. Thankfully, no injuries were reported. No major damage to homes in the area was noted, but several outbuildings and trees were destroyed. Several power poles were snapped causing power outages in the area. Power was restored in Neola before midnight and restored in Minden by 3 a.m.

Additional reports of wind damage and power outages came in from the Plattsmouth and Glenwood area stretching into central and northern portions of Mills County, Iowa, as well as a portion of Gage county near Beatrice. Most of this likely came from high winds, but there were a few potential pockets of rotation that could have produce a brief tornado.

The National Weather Service is sending teams out today to survey the damage and confirm any potential tornado touchdowns. They are focusing on four zones, mainly to the east and south of the metro to determine if, or how many tornadoes touched down across the area.

Pockets of heavy rain also accompanied the storms as they pushed through. Most of the metro picked up between one-half and one inch of rain, while portions of far southeast Nebraska into southwest Iowa saw 1 to 3 inches of rainfall. That was enough to prompt Flash Flood Warnings through early Monday morning for portions of southeast Nebraska, southwest Iowa, and northwest Missouri.
