Nick Jonas has traveled for over a decade as a pop star alongside his two brothers, in beloved band The Jonas Brothers, but now, as a dad of an 11-month-old baby, hitting the road these days isn't quite the same.

“I mean, travel is definitely different now," he told Travel + Leisure recently of setting out for a trip with his daughter Malti, who he shares with wife Priyanka Chopra. "I think part of that is, you know, just the amount of stuff you need. It's pretty funny. But also the wonder of looking for places you've been to a million times but seeing it through different eyes, right? It's really special. It has been a pretty amazing experience for us."

Luckily, Jonas and Chopra, who have been married since 2018, have some non-work trips ahead that will let the singer spend time enjoying his travels. Specifically, Jonas is looking forward to an upcoming trip to Dublin for a wedding.

“I love that city and any time I’ve been it’s always been quick and this one will be too but it’s always for work and this one will be a celebration with friends," he said. "It will be really nice.”

When it comes to planning vacations, meals are his main focus. Otherwise, on trips where he's not taking the stage, he prefers to be a bit of a wanderer — especially if he's in a new city.

“You walk around and just kind of stumble into a place to have a coffee or a drink," he said. "I took a trip a couple of years ago where I really wanted to go to Europe and just be a tourist, because I've only been there for shows. But I wanted to actually go and just experience it that way, which was really special and that's kind of what I did.”

Delicious meals may be a travel must-do but they're also a business endeavor as he's recently partnered with John Varvatos to bring their Villa One Tequila brand to life with the launch of Villa One Tequila Gardens in San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter.

”Villa One Tequila was created out of a dream to create a tequila brand that embodied the culture that we have experienced in a shared drink around good friends, [and] great food," he told T+L. "We thought for a while about this concept of taking that idea and turning it into a tangible restaurant bar experience, where people could come to relax, have a great cocktail, and do it in an elevated way and make sure that it was something that that we put our stamp of approval on.”

Following San Diego, Villa One Tequila Gardens will soon expand throughout the U.S. with openings in Los Angeles, Miami, Las Vegas and New York City in 2023.

The Jonas family is no stranger to the restaurant business thanks to the recently opened Las Vegas outpost of their southern cooking eatery Nellie's Southern Kitchen in North Carolina.
