The crowned tree swift (Hemiprocne coronata) is a common breeding bird with a distribution area from the Indian subcontinent to eastern Thailand. The crested tree swift and the crowned swift are closely related and were sometimes considered as one species in the last century.

The crowned tree swift is a fairly large, slender bird, measuring 23 cm in length. The bird is colored dove gray above and white below. The wings are dark gray above. The bird has a crest and a deeply forked tail. The adult male has orange colored "cheeks". Young birds are gray above and streaked further.

The crowned tree swift is found in India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Southwest China, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam. It is a bird that you can spot in semi-open forest areas, forest edges, secondary forest, parks and gardens.

The crowned tree swift has a large distribution area and because of this alone the chance of extinction is extremely small.

Its beautiful photos. I live in an area in Bangkok with lots of greenery but I don't see any of these birds passing by, only the pesky Asian Koel bird with its miserable screams at 1am. I hope to get to see the birds that I see passing by here every day. Thank you.
