Picea abies ‘Gold Drift’

Tufts of tiny green needles cover the many short shoots of this dense, tight bun. Its tough constitution & restrained growth assure good performance in a variety of garden situations where it resembles a lush, green pincushion. Has a globe shaped growth habit & reaches roughly 1’ tall by 2’ wide in size, growing 1” to 3” a year.

Picea abies 'Pendula'

Can be staked and trained into an outstanding upright specimen, or it can be allowed to grow as an undulating ground-cover that drapes over slopes and walls. Picea abies 'Pusch'

Named Collector's Conifer of the Year in 2008, this small, slow-growing Norway Spruce, produces loads of bright red cones on many short shoots in spring. The tiny cones brown as they age, but continue to decorate the irregular, dwarf variety year-round. Globose when young, the small spruce develops an upright broad shape with maturity. It is extremely hardy and grows well in full sun or part shade.  Has a globe shaped growth habit & reaches roughly 2’ tall by 3’ wide in size, growing 2” 4” a year.

Picea englemannii 'Jasper'

Soft in color & needle texture, this compact, globose spruce traces its roots to a species native to the Rocky Mountains. Rarely seen in the trade, this muted, blue-green variety thrives in cool, mountain conditions, so its subtle, rugged beauty makes a perfect addition to the alpine garden. Has a globe-shaped growth habit & reaches roughly 3’ tall by 2’ wide in size, growing 2” to 4” a year.

An elegant conifer that can be used in city gardens and larger landscapes as a specimen, privacy screen, or windbreak. An evergreen that needs partial to full sun. Has a narrow upright growth habit & reaches roughly 30’ to 35’ tall by 8’ to 10’ wide in size, with age.

Picea omorika 'de Ruyter'

Texture, color & an irregular sculptural habit give this adaptable, slow-growing Serbian Spruce unique character & make it an excellent focal point for the small garden. Individual shoots display either blue needles for a frosty look, or green needles for a softer look, both on the same plant. The interesting, rustic appearance will accent many garden styles. Has a broad upright growth habit & reaches roughly 10’ tall by 8’ wide in size, growing 6” to 8” a year.

Picea omorika 'Kamenz'

The perfect size for the modern landscape, it matures dense, bright & bushy at eye level. Has a broad upright growth habit & reaches roughly 6’ tall by 4’ wide in size, growing 3” to 6” a year.

Picea pungens 'Avatar'

A classic Colorado Blue Spruce manifesting the best qualities this species offers. The exceptionally lush blue foliage is especially striking in spring as the new needles emerge as soft blue powder puffs. The distinctive tiered pattern of branching contributes a “wow” factor both as a young tree today but more so in a mature specimen. With a slower growth rate than other popular cultivars, this heritage quality tree can develop to its full majesty in many sizes of landscapes. Has a broad upright growth habit & reaches roughly 20’ tall by 15’ wide in size, growing 12” to 15” a year.

Picea pungens 'Lundeby's Dwarf'

Steel-blue needles & horizontally-layered branches make this variety a neat & reliable landscape conifer that becomes wider than tall with age. A rare form of Colorado Blue Spruce, it stays compact & provides an attractive mounding form that stays in scale, even in small urban & suburban gardens. Useful as part of a foundation planting, as a focal point or in a rock garden or container. Has a globe shaped growth habit & reaches roughly 2’ tall by 3’ wide, 4” to 5” a year.

Has a broad upright growth habit & reaches roughly 10’ tall by 8’ wide in size, growing 6” to 8” a year.

Picea pungens 'Procumbens'

This spreading, undulating groundcover produces a striking effect when planted to drape over a rock wall or slope. The attractive blue form makes an excellent alternative to groundcovering junipers. Has a prostrate growth habit & reaches roughly 2’ tall by 10’ wide in size, growing 6” to 8” a year.

Picea pungens 'Ruby Teardrops'

A striking dwarf, blue selection of Colorado spruce that provides a vibrant color display early in the growing season. Abundant emerging cones are red to magenta, contrasting vividly against teal-blue foliage, generally lasting for at least four weeks & longer in cooler weather. As cones age, they take on a khaki color & will eventually deteriorate rather than dislodge. The foliage will soften to more of a pleasing sky blue into summer. Has a globe shaped growth habit & reaches roughly 3’ tall by 3.5’ wide, growing 2” to 4” a year.

Picea pungens 'Sester Dwarf'

Stunning blue needles, slow growth rate & classic conical form make this dwarf spruce an ideal plant for the modern landscape. Has a broad upright growth habit & reaches roughly 6’ tall by 4’ wide, growing 3” to 6” a year.

Picea pungens 'The Blues'

Was discovered as a unique growth sport on a Weeping Colorado Spruce and has become a favorite in gardens everywhere. Lush blue spring foliage drapes off of downward flowing branches creating a pleasing waterfall of year-round color. Plants may be trained to flow along a fence, deck railing, or stone wall & then allowed to spill across the ground, splashing against well-placed rocks in the garden. Enjoys a moist, well-drained location. Has a weeping/spreading growth habit & size varies with culture, growing 6” to 12” a year.

Picea rubens 'Lake Street Steeple'

Short, strictly weeping branches adorn the length of this dark green spruce with a tall, extremely narrow, weeping habit. Has a narrow upright growth habit & reaching roughly 20’ tall by 4’ wide in size, growing 12” to 15” a year.

Picea stichenensis 'Silberzwerg'

The name refers to the plant’s outstanding needle color & its reliable, slow-growing habit. The plant’s very dense, very blue needles display a unique reversal from the norm: the two-tone, blue-green effect results from silvery blue on one side of needles with dark green on the reverses. Resists browsing deer. Has a broad upright growth habit & reaches roughly 8’ tall by 6’ wide, growing 3” to 6” a year.
