in a domed glazed and rosewood veneered display case, containing an adult specimen North Island Brown Kiwi, with a paper label typed '1. Roa or North Island Kiwi / Apteryx mantelli [sic] / captured 17th October, 1891.'

The North Island Kiwi, is a flightless nocturnal bird, native to New Zealand, and holds the world record for laying the largest egg in relative to its body size.
