************************* SAULT STE. MARIE, ON - (May 29, 2008) - To promote its Northern Explorer program, Tourism Sault Ste. Marie is including $50 Esso gas cards, Ontario Parks daily vehicle permits and maps of Lake Superior Provincial Park in their new Northern Explorer two-night vacation packages.

Together, these bonus items allow visitors to explore the area surrounding Sault Ste. Marie with ease.

Joining with Tourism Sault Ste. Marie this year, and helping to make the Northern Explorer packages so comprehensive are new partners McDougall Fuels and Ontario Parks.

“We know that gas prices are a concern to travellers, so these partnerships make Northern Ontario vacation travel even more attractive.” says Ian McMillan, director of Tourism Sault Ste. Northern Explorer packages start at just $100 per person for two nights and visitors can plan their own itineraries with the help of a free map and ‘Explorer’s Handbook,' choosing when and where they want to go.

Bundling the $50 Esso gas card and the Ontario Parks daily vehicle permit helps to make the vacation more affordable and easier to plan.

Tourists will also find plenty of new outdoors activities in the Sault Ste. Marie region this summer including Treetop Adventures.

This adventure tourism company takes travellers 40 feet into the air where they can then zip from tree to tree.
