Tiger Shrike Lanius tigrinus, male, Dongzhai Nature Reserve, Henan, China, June. Tiger Shrike breeds eastern and northeast China, Ussuriland, Korean Peninsula, Honshu, and Kyushu. Non-breeding southeast China to Southeast Asia and Greater Sundas. Inhabits dense lowland forest with open areas, usually to 1000 m (3,280 ft.). Male richly patterned, with black facial mask, dove-grey crown and nape, and chestnut mantle and back with black vermiculations.
