The Closer ends with a bang: there's a quick pace, characters to love, a compelling arc, and Kyra Sedgwick's incredible performance.

Gringa G I wish they didn't make this last season so grim and slimy. No wonder Kyra Sedgwick didn't feel that great about this season. I guess it was becoming trendy to blur the line between good and bad at the time and also add crooked sleazebag characters in shows, but I feel Brenda Leigh deserved better. What was once good mood show (as much as tv shows can be that) turned to ugly parade of nasty smearing campaigns. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/23/23 Full Review Audience Member I began watching this recently on Start TV, as I hadn't seen it on TNT. I much prefer "Major Crimes." Too much shtick in Chief Johnson's character: the ever-present over large handbag. (Who carries their purse into the interview room?) She is manipulative to a fault, lies even to Fritz. I do realize that lying is part of her job, but why lie to her partner. She isn't particularly nice to Fritz. Traffic rules don't apply to her: she left the scene of an accident because she had a "murder" investigation. Too dramatic, too many mini-tantrums. That said, I do like the other characters, am pleased that most of the moved over to "Major Crimes." Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Ok, two glasses of wine. My wife and I have been binging on The Closer for the last (month). Kyra Sedgwick is good, J.K. Simmons is good and the writers are good. Have been addicted to DCI Banks, Shetland, and now The Closer. Also dug Goliath but done with Suits. Stay with the good stuff. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member This is a perfect law and order serial. Kyra Sedgwick is brilliant i this role and the supporting cast is also perfect. I've been binge watching it all over again. And it is just as good as the first time. I couldn't recommend this more strongly. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member This was a Great Series! Great Characters that you fall in love with and it was done with a classy flair to it! Ken Tucker Entertainment Weekly The show's increasing silliness had begun to verge on self-parody -- not the right drift for a vehicle that had won Sedgwick a drama Emmy. Rated: C+ Aug 14, 2018 Full Review Matthew Gilbert Boston Globe There were a number of lighthearted episodes that never quite worked. But the dramatic material was, and still is, formidable. Sep 13, 2016 Full Review Phil Dyess-Nugent AV Club After seven seasons, The Closer is leaving the air in a condition that's far from its best. Rated: C Aug 13, 2012 Full Review Matt Webb Mitovich TV Line As a series, its quality and sizable audience helped put TNT and its "We Know Drama" mantra on the map,... For that and seven seasons of entertainment, we should all say Thank you, thank you so much. Sep 25, 2020 Full Review Chris Hicks Deseret News (Salt Lake City) Although a little too comic for some tastes the past couple of seasons, it is still watchable drama with a great cast. Aug 13, 2012 Full Review Sara Smith Kansas City Star The show has just kept getting better as justice has become more personal for Brenda. Jul 5, 2012 Full Review Read all reviews
