Great Dusky Swift (Cypseloides senex)

The color of the swifts match that of the rocks they cling to, so unless you know what to look for you’ll most likely pass by focused as you are on the magnificent falls.

Great Dusky Swift (Cypseloides senex)

A few of the swifts build nests in “accessible” places like this – accessible by sight that is. They are perhaps younger pairs not yet able to compete with those holding the prime real estate for nesting. That could quickly change when the water levels rise. This image seems somewhat noisy or whitish, but that’s simply the mist from the waterfall to the left, so a little more water and these two nests will be hidden behind a veil of water.
