Endlicher's Pine (Pinus rudis), showing the large clusters of male cones (strobili). This evergreen tree is up to 24m tall and is native to the mountains of central and northern Mexico. The lush needles are usually around 10-15cm long but may reach 30cm, forming brush-like sprays of foliage. Often confused in cultivation with Pinus montezumae. Although subtropical in origin, this species can withstand very low temperatures. Order: Pinales, Family: Pinaceae
