Identification & Behavior: ~11.5 cm (4.5 in). The Bronze-Olive Pygmy-Tyrant is olive-brown above and warmer brown below, with yellowish on the center of the belly. The iris is red but may be noticeable only with the bird in hand. It forages in the understory of humid montane forests where it is generally inconspicuous. It is very similar to the closely related Hazel-fronted Pygmy-Tyrant, but these two species replace each other geographically and their ranges do not overlap. The also similar Rufous-headed Pygmy-Tyrant has rufous head and wings and ranges at higher elevations on the east slope of the Andes.

Status: The Bronze-Olive Pygmy-Tyrant is uncommon and inconspicuous in the understory of humid montane forests of the east slope of the central and northern Andes at elevations ranging between 1100-2100 m. It is also local in the southern Andes. The Bronze-Olive Pygmy-Tyrant also occurs in Co and Ec.
