Identification & Behavior: ~14.4 cm (5.6 in). Male House Sparrows have boldly colored head markings and patterned back in shades of gray and brown. Gray underparts. Females are mostly buffy-gray, with a patterned back. Juvenile birds look like females.

Status: The House Sparrow is an introduced species. It is common in cities and other human populated areas. Mostly along the coast of Peru, but seem to be constantly colonizing new areas as human settlement spread in the landscape. Rare at elevations higher than 1000 m. It also occurs in Co, Ec, Br, Bo, and Ch.
