Edie Falco to play Pete Davidson's mom in streaming series

Four-time Emmy Award winner Edie Falco, who grew up in West Islip and Northport, will star with "Saturday Night Live" comic Pete Davidson in the upcoming Peacock streaming series "Bupkis," a fictionalized version of Davidson's life.
Parent company NBCUniversal announced Monday that the half-hour comedy series features Falco, 58, as the mother of Davidson's character. Davidson, 28, is the writer and an executive producer, alongside "SNL" impresario Lorne Michaels and others.
"The series will combine grounded storytelling with absurd elements from the unfiltered and completely original worldview for which Pete is well known," the announcement said. Neither Falco nor Davidson have social media, but in an onstage appearance at the NBCUniversal upfront event Monday, Falco told Davidson, "I'm so excited to be playing your mother in this show, Pete," according to Deadline.com. She then alluded to her role on "The Sopranos" as New Jersey mob wife and mother Carmela Soprano: "Finally, I get to play an overwhelmed mother of two living in a world of corruption. Except this time, it's Staten Island."
The common Yiddish word "bupkis" means "nothing," usually used in a pejorative sense.
