Dale Earnhardt's cars through the years: He drove more than his famous No. 3 Chevy

Dale Earnhardt is forever linked with the iconic black No. 3 Chevy, but the NASCAR legend drove many car makes under many numbers and paint schemes over his career. The black paint scheme was introduced for the 1988 season.

Dale Earnhardt was best known for his black No. 3 Chevy, which earned him one his the nicknames "The Man in Black."

Dale Earnhardt made one NASCAR Cup Series start in the No. 8 Dodge, finishing 22nd at Charlotte in 1975. His father, Ralph, drove a No. 8. Son Dale Jr. started his career in a No. 8 ride.

Dale Earnhardt drove the No. 30 Chevrolet for one race during the 1976 season. He also drove the No. 77 Chevy for one race.
