Danica Patrick is facing backlash on social media after criticizing NASCAR driver Martin Truex Jr. for his post about the death of his former girlfriend, Sherry Pollex, who passed away at the age of 44 after a long battle with ovarian cancer. Truex had posted on Instagram about Pollex's death and offered his condolences to her family, calling her "an inspiration" because of her tireless charity work.
However, Patrick took issue with Truex's post, calling it "the most insensitive disconnected statement" and accusing him of being cold and insincere. She also suggested that a PR rep had written the post for him.
Patrick's comments did not sit well with many fans on social media, with some calling her "classless and disgusting" and others saying that she was making Pollex's passing about her personal feelings towards Truex.
