Archangel Gabriel - Angel of Cancer Zodiac (June 21-July 22)

Angel of Cancer (June 21-July 22) - Gabriel

Angel of Month of June - Muriel

Angel of Month of July - Verchiel

Angels of Summer - Michael

I think most of us will remember from scriptures that it was Archangel Gabriel who heralded the birth of Yeshua. He was a messenger and announcer of good news and one of but only a few angels mentioned in scriptures.

According to some writers of the day, Gabriel is still with us, helping people be messenger angels on earth, in the here and now—including teachers, writers, musicians, and artists. Gabriel along with Michael are the only two archangels mentioned in the bible, AND only Gabriel has conversations and encounters with people. In all sacred books featuring Gabriel, this angel is busily interacting with others and delivering guidance.

This period of time appears to be about home and family. If there are rifts within and between family members, perhaps this is a good time, calling upon the assistance of Gabriel, to try and heal those divides. If we can't love our family members, who may have intentionally or unintentionally somehow offended or hurt us, then how can we "love our enemies?" Following scripture references are from the KJV of the bible:

  • Matthew 5:44 - But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
  • Luke 6:27 But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you,
  • Luke 6:35 But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.
Luke 6:35 Love Your Enemies

Sadly the story goes that in those ancient times some folks would call upon the angels to perform nasty deeds against others. I say sadly because I have no doubt that there are those of us today who would do the same thing if it meant getting what we want, at any cost.

An example is given regarding Angel Muriel who is the angel for the entire month of June. The story goes that in ancient times some people called upon her to do not so nice things, one of them being a request to procure a magic carpet. As for why this request, your guess is as good as mine, but because it was listed with the less than honourable "uses" of angels, it suggests a somewhat negative intent. Maybe they wanted to transport an enemy to some oblivious place in space and time.

We are told that Archangel Gabriel, as the representative angel of the zodiac sign Cancer, is also about sensitivity and sympathy, as well as being able to control our emotions. Thinking about my own journey and especially recently with the impact of COVID-19 and how people are handling these major changes, working as a frontline cashier at a pharmacy, I have been verbally abused on more than one occasion for insisting on customers adhere to the store's policies regarding social distancing. Once an explosive reactionary to any assault, I have slowly changed, but still in these recent events my immediate reaction was to want to lash out at them with a great big tongue assault of words! I didn't, but I did see that I am still taking things personally, when it never is personal.

It is a consistent and constant effort of being more aware and sensitive to the plight of fellow humans, a little more consideration in those times when someone might snap at us (for no apparent reason); being aware they are as human as you and I and that we have no idea what is really going on in their lives. I may be a little less thin skinned, but I am a work in progress and I do not want to become so hardened and thick skinned that I never see or feel anyone else's emotions and needs. Guess it really is about boundaries, perhaps a picket fence with a gate instead of the once 90 foot brick wall I had constructed around myself.

If we can take things less personally and see them through the passionate and compassionate eyes of Yeshua, I have no doubt our hearts would soften and our tongues would not be so quick to lash back.

I think this was very much a message for me, however I share it with others as usual. Remember how blessed you are, we all are, and in giving thanks we will bless others unknowingly. That's unconditional love in action.
