I’M BACK! 😃👋 Wow! What a trip!! It’s beyond me how I could have the wind in my face 90% of the time given that I came full circle? 🤔 Overall it was a lot rougher than it had to be. Denmark suddenly experienced some cold weather and temperatures dropped below freezing 🥶 I had to brush frost off the tent several mornings and I’ve been shivering in my sleeping bag. I burned an estimated extra 1,800 calories per day covering an average of about 30km / 18.6mi per day. It took 17 days including 2 rest/wind days. The kayak was leaking, taking in copious amounts of seawater the first week, until I found a way to fix it. 2 out of 3 storage rooms would be full of water 🙄 But what beauty I saw!!! So much wildlife!! and I witnessed trees and plants blooming as the days progressed. Fresh air and kindness from Danes across the island ❤️🇩🇰 Besides, I had a lot of time to think things through. My head is full: Thank you to everyone who supported me throughout Once Upon A Saga ❤️ That project was unique and has given me much to reflect upon. It has also left me with some traumatic experiences which I’m working my way past. Returning home from living my life in a new country every 17 days (on average), across nearly a decade, has also been an ordeal. Fortunately I have support from ultra-wifey, family and good friends. My head is furthermore full, with a new life consisting of speaking engagements, book deals, and the upcoming documentary. That is also a lot, all at once. Fortunately it’s all going well. Thanks again to everyone ❤️ I’m no longer officially affiliated with the Red Cross. Can you imagine meeting with the worlds largest humanitarian organization in 199 countries out of our 203 in total? Coordinating all of those meetings while on the go?! Thank you again for all the generous contributions to the Red Cross / Red Crescent ❤️ Patreon, PayPal, MobilePay and the “Saga Shop” have been closed now. I’m currently setting my head straight on a solo kayaking expedition around Denmarks largest island. I’ll be out here for several weeks. While the footage in the attached video is stunning, the wind quickly picked up. Brutal headwind and challenging swell has been my companion for days now. On a positive note, I stem from a beautiful country with an inspiring wildlife and I’ve seen seals every day 🦭🇩🇰 Am I okay? Yes, in the big picture I am. What an interesting meeting! Having connected the movement worldwide in a historic journey, raising funds and awareness as a goodwill ambassador of the Danish Red Cross, I had the pleasure of revisiting the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies - IFRC HQ in Geneva and shaking hands with a great deal of people 🙏❤️ Jagan Chapagain still has me wondering about his philosophy of “relying solely on plan A”.
