Minden man dies from injuries sustained in Friday’s tornado, family confirms
MINDEN, Iowa (WOWT) - Friday’s outbreak of tornadoes across eastern Nebraska and western Iowa has turned deadly.
A Minden man died from his injuries after being trapped in his basement during Friday’s storm. A family member tells 6 News Nicholas Ring was taken to Nebraska Medicine in Omaha once he was freed. He died Saturday night.
The storms flattened a portion of the town of about 600 people, located on the northern edge of Pottawattamie County. Some homes had been pulled from their foundations, torn apart from the ground. Damage was particularly expansive on the east side of Minden, were about half of homes there were severely damaged.
Three others in Minden were injured. All of them were treated and released.
