TAMPA - A state appeals court has ruled that former middle school teacher and sex offender Debra Lafave should not have been released early from probation.

Lafave pleaded guilty in 2005 to having sex with a 14-year-old boy who was a student at the school where she worked. She served 2 1/2 years of house arrest and was scheduled to remain on sex-offender probation until November 2015.

Last September, Circuit Judge Wayne S. Timmerman ended her probation. Prosecutors appealed that ruling.

On Wednesday, the 2nd District Court of Appeal reversed Timmerman's decision and ordered that Lafave's probation be reinstated. Lafave's attorney said he will talk with his client about taking the case to the Florida Supreme Court.

Lafave is now a 32-year-old mother of twins.
