The Z3 Coupe from model years 1998-2001 is one of the most polarizing BMWs ever made. While Autotrader calls it “a future classic” others knock its unconventional appearance. Regardless, the Z3 Coupe is undoubtedly rare. Only 2,071 standard coupes and 2,858 M Coupes were sold in the U.S. between 1998 and 2002. Of those, only 678 – including this example – were equipped with the ultra-desirable S54 engine. Automotive writer Doug DeMuro says he suspects “there will be a day in the not-so-distant future when a pristine M Coupe brings $100,000 or more at auction.” With just over 22K miles on the odometer, this example qualifies as pristine, in our opinion.
