I wouldn't call that truly pendulous. And I wonder how much the habit is being influenced by the shaded position.

That does look like a weeping tree....my loppers would be busy giving it some more room and sunshine. I grow a few and they are all unmistakenly upright.

Comparing with other Sciadopitys v. cultivars this plant is a true weeper. It is a seedling, and the question is will it keep its habit when grafted? A picture ot another weeper. No dominant leader. S. v. ‘R. W. Knight’ ( syn. ‘Weston Weeper #1’.

That one is even less down-swept. And is far from drooping. If somebody ever finds one that actually hangs, like a weeping blue Atlas cedar or a weeping larch, then they will have a true weeping form. Otherwise calling the ones shown here weeping is borderline hyperbolic.

This matters because there is a long history of the naming and development of conifer (and other plant) selections that do not in fact represent adequately significant departures from the norm. So that checklists and manuals are full of cultivars that are seldom, if ever seen because they failed to generate enough continued interest to be kept in circulation.

I have grafted it omto the top of another cultivar in order to speed up the prduction of more scions. Thr lower part is ’Beauty Green’.
