Weeping Picea abies

Hello Folks -

I am looking for weeping Picea abies recommendations for cultivars that will create an undulating affect on the ground, left unstaked - perhaps wanting to send up a leader, but quickly turning back to the ground. (Kind of a ground cover effect with a bit of vertical dimension.) Full and dwarf forms recommendations would be nice.

Photos will be much appreciated.

If any other Picea species' cultivars fit the bill, please recommend them as well.

Many thanks!

    Picea pungens 'Glauca Prostrata'

    Picea abies 'Wingle's Weeper'

    Picea abies 'Rariflora Weeper'

    Picea abies 'Frohberg'

    Picea abies 'Pseudoprostrata'

Picea alcoquiana/bicolor 'Howell's Dwarf' great red cones

    Picea pungens 'Prostrata'

    Pinus strobus 'Prostrata'

    Another Picea abies 'Wingle's Weeper'

    Picea pungens 'Linda's Mad Dancer'

    Tsuga canadensis 'Brookline'

    Pinus densiflora 'Glitzer's Weeping'

Pinus densiflora 'Pendula' color is perfection

    Picea pungens 'The Blues'
Grows at a 45 degree angle so will be upright but it's gotta turn into a rambling thing too.

    P.s. I definitely recommend 'Linda's Mad Dancer'

    Thanks, Dax!

    Great information + photos!

Can you tell me where I might obtain Picea pungens 'Linda's Mad Dancer'?

Also, can someone tell me the difference between Picea abies 'Frohberg' and Picea abies 'Formanek'?

    Thanks!

Probably sold somewhere as Chub Harper who provided the collection often sends scions from his collections to friends in the conifer grafting trade. Otherwise I could be persuaded to graft you one this winter.

    Hi plantmaker,

'Formanek' is aradically prostrate, slow-growing form of Norway Spruce it
will become a densely matted, spreading carpet over time If
staked up, its strongly weeping branches cascade down and create
a pendulous form. Unstaked, it is the perfect plant to creep
over and around rocks. This form I have has been staked for a little height.

ÂFrohburg Which I don't have is narrower form of Weeping Norway Spruce offers a strictly
pendulous habit with a full, spreading skirt and a slower growth
rate A finer texture is the result of shorter, slender, medium green
needles Use this choice selection for landscapes with limited space.

    Iseli has a nice photo.

I think Picea pungens 'Linda's Mad Dancer' is the best. Searched google and didn't find any info or any available for sale. So, only friends of Chub Harper have it?
    Thanks,
    Larry

I'm confused now. Dave's description of Picea abies 'Frohberg' doeesn't seem to match Dax's photo of it. Perhaps the "narrow form" only is apparent when it's staked? (Maybe I'm having a "duh" moment?)

Dax, where did you get you P.a. 'Frohberg', if I may ask? Also, very intrigued by how to persuade you for a P.p. 'Linda's Mad Dancer' graft!

You guys I just thought of somebody who probably is selling 'Linda's Mad Dancer' as well as other plants from the conifer collection at Bickelhaupt Arboretum .. where my photo is from.
