Uber as always Stephen. About how old is that 'Little Markey'? It has great character and miny tiny cultivar doesn't seem to grow, four years now in the ground.

Hopefully you post lots more in this thread. Throw some of your cool Abies procera's onto the gallery too, if you're willing.

The buds on Picea abies 'Holy Family no.1' are quite tremendous.

Pinus radiata 'Ferndown WB' is such a quaint little fellow.

    Thanks for sharing!

What are the rules for grafting radiata? I can't recall. And is it zone 7 or zone 8 or zone 9?

Stephen your 'Holy Family No.1' is growing nicely. It's a great plant.

Ken, I know you can't be serious!!! LoL

What's the thing with Holy Family and St. Mary ??
radiata not hardy enough for you Dax! It was always thought sylvestris was ok for radiata in the past, but i had all sorts of problems when i first started grafting this broom useing sylvestris understocks, when i switched to radiatas no problem at all now, so that's what I would recommend.

Very nice selection of plants Stephen!

Can you tell us the background info about the Picea abies 'Holey Family no. 1'?
Is this a witches' broom or a seedling selection?
How many more numbers are there from this serie?

The true cultivar name for the Chamaecyparis laws. 'Nymph' is 'Ellwood's Nymph'.

I think your Tsuga mert. 'Mountain Light' reverted for about 90%.
Did you never consider to cut off the green parts?
I found a simular variegation at my nursery which is more yellowish.

Edwin, The Picea abies 'Holy Family no.1' originates from the US, Dax might have more info on it.
Didn't give any thought to the Tsuga mert 'Mountain Light' just assumed the intermittent variegation was normal, my plant came from Henk of course.

They are indeed Dax, get millions of them on the ground this time of year from the old Copper beech in the corner of the garden.
