Differing views that I have seen. Don't recall that I've seen your weeping purple beech, ever.

What's the other purple shrub with the heart-shaped-leaves? Reminds me of fothergilla, form.

My guess would be Cercis canadensis 'Forest Pansy' or similar.
Nice pictures,Blue. Is your beech a 'Purple Fountain'? I have one that grows at a 90 angle. Can't seem to make it grow skywards. T.

Yep! right on both counts tunilla! .. Cercis canadensis 'Forest Pansy' and the beech is indeed the cultivar 'Purple Fountain', and yes very difficult to get it to grow upwards!

You have quite the knack for integrating and designing with various plants. Hopefully you have share more. Maybe you have in the past so I doing a little searching.

That is by far the purpleist 'Forest Pansy' I've seen! I would have never guessed just because of the color.

Sorry it's taken so long Euan, but here is my 'Holly Turner' ..Not much to see from this photo really as it's squashed in behind other plants ... still not made a leader as yet, but is fairly rapid in growth, with nice lush dark green foliage ... you still wanting material ?

A couple more to show ...

    Picea pungens 'Blue Pearl'

    Picea orientalis 'Smee WB'

Pinus nigra 'Helen' ..or is it 'Helena' ?

    Foliage close up!

    Pseudotsuga menziesii 'Fat Doug'

    Pinus monophylla 'Tioga Pass'

no worries. There really wasn't much out there, so I took what little was there and created the record. We can certainly add to it should more information become available.
