Conifers with the best blue or silver color

monkeytreeboy15

Many conifers are selected for the steel-blue color, but which ones are the best in your opinion?

Here are a couple that come to mind for me!

Abies fraseri 'Blue Bonnet'

Picea engelmannii 'Jasper'

Picea glauca 'Blue Teardrop'

{{gwi:688890}}

Abies lasiocarpa 'Alpine Beauty'

{{gwi:623864}}

{{gwi:623866}}

Abies lasiocarpa 'Prickly Pete'

{{gwi:623868}}

Please share your favorite blue conifers, also.

    That 'Blue Bonnet' is gorgeous! So is 'The Blues' and 'Montgomery'. What great color. The others ain't too shabby, either.

    I love P. pungens 'Lucretia'...we'll see if she grows as slowly as advertised! Some of the Abies concolors are very blue, as well.

    I am sorry - I don't know the names - but these are globular blue spruce. I bought them for the gorgeous blue color! Fast growers!

    Pretty cool plants Bostonbob, nice and compact.

    I can share some, as Spring slowly gives way to Summer here.

    Abies koreana 'Kohout's Icebreaker'

    Abies procera 'Hupp's Blue'. A noble selected for this strong silvery color.

    Abies concolor 'Glenmore' - A nice bright blue.

    Closeup.

    Cedrus libani var. atlantica 'Sapphire Nymph' - Forming a great medium sized dwarf.

    Abies procera 'Pesek'

    Excellent stuff. A nice, fine and feathery texture on Abies concolor 'Glenmore', huh?

    Abies koreana 'Blauer Eskimo' (found as a witch's broom on 'Blauer Pfiff')

    Wow, some great, bright blues here!

    'Ruby Teardrops' is awesome!

    Edwin, could you tell us more about the 'Tropical Blue' what witch's broom was it derived from?

    Severnside, that Korean Fir is very fitting for this photo gallery. It is surprising to see one of your conifers in the ground instead of a pot!

    Nate, that second P. pungens is definitely one of the bluest conifers I've ever seen.

    Abies koreana 'Horstmann's Silberlocke'

    Abies procera 'Glauca'

    Picea pungens 'Copeland'

    And wouldn't be complete without a Cedrus libani var. atlantica 'Glauca'

    Sam, the Juniperus squamata 'Tropical Blue' is a witches' broom out of a 'Blue Star' which is a witches' broom out of a 'Meyeri'...

    Lol. My internet connection was acting strangely, saying that my message hadn't posted when, in fact, it had... twice.

    Well, good luck transplanting to Terra "fir"ma. :0)
