Picea orientalis photo gallery 2010

The orientalis holds some of my favorite cultivars. Once again, here are a few that some of you may not have seen.

-Dave

Picea orientalis 'Bergman's Gem' -- a nice vase-shaped nest spruce.

Picea orientalis 'Losely'

Picea orientalis 'Fern Creek Prostrate' -- I've never seen a big one, so I have no idea what this one's going to be when it grows up.

Picea orientalis 'Mt Vernon' -- one of the little guys.

Picea orientalis 'Spring Grove'

Finally, a nice combination: Picea orientalis 'Professor Langner' toward the front and 'Tom Thumb' to the rear. I still prefer to call it 'Tom Thumb Gold.'

Picea orientalis 'Nutans'. With significant character. Seems happy growing sideways. Probably have to stake it to keep it from tipping.

    'Conneticut Turnpike'. A medium dwarf.

'Early Gold'. One of the many gold-pushing oriental spruce. I'm trying to log time-based photos of all them to determine if any have better/more interesting characteristics. This one is in part shade.

'Pendula'? Sold to me as 'Glauca Pendula'. Not too glauca lol.

    'Nana Compacta'

'Spring Frost'. Also in a little shade.

'Silver Seedling'. LOTS of shade, still a nice color.

Will, I like the 'Nutans' and the 'Spring Frost' very much, I still don't have these in my collection.

'Aurea Spicata' must be writte as 'Aureospicata'.
