Picea sitchensis Photo Gallery 2010

Not too many clones of this wonderful spruce, but the clones that do exist are GREAT plants!

Picea sitchensis 'Bentham's Sunlight'. Of 'Haida' native fame, this infamous golden spruce was only luckily saved by graft wood before a deranged logger chopped it down. Fortunately through the miracle of grafting, we can now all enjoy this marvelous, bright gold spruce. I have several, it's a rare duplicate in my gardens and for good reason! Part to nearly full shade is recommended.

Picea sitchensis 'Papoose'. More common and for good reason - a fantastic looking globe that always attracts visitors attention. This specimen is probably about 12 years old.

Picea sitchensis 'Thomas'. A miniature with remarkably colored needles.

Picea sitchensis 'Trinket'. Reported to be the same plant as 'Papoose', time will tell. Lovely regardless.

'Christina'. Another miniature, very young graft.

'Vapenka'. Another dwarf, great looking 'rounded' foliage.

'Renken'. A small dwarf, the needles looks very distinct.

One of my favorites, let's see some of yours!
