Retro Girl may be gone, but a new woman will be catching Detective Walker’s eye in the second season of Sony’s superhero drama Powers: Battlestar Galactica‘s Tricia Helfer will be joining the cast of the comic book adaptation.
Helfer will play FBI Special Agent Lange, a character who has a past with Walker (Sharlto Copley), as well as a noticeable sexual tension. The character, known for pulling cases from under the noses of the cops in her comic book incarnation, is described by the studio as walking “a fine line between the Powers world and the government, and can be both ally and enemy when it suits her agenda” — which all but guarantees that she’ll cause trouble for Walker and Deena Pilgrim (Susan Heyward) as they try to uncover the truth behind the death of Retro Girl at the end of the show’s first season.
Helfer’s addition to the cast follows last week’s announcement that Michael Madsen has also joined the series for its second year, playing the Superman-esque hero Super-Shock.
The second season of the series, which airs on Sony’s PlayStation Network, recently started production in Atlanta, with new episodes scheduled for release in 2016. Remi Aubuchon and David Engel serve as executive producers on the show alongside comic book creators Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming.
