Wicked Local's Buy Local program is designed to remind consumers to invest in their community by investing in their local businesses.

Wicked Local, the collective brand of GateHouse Media New England's more than 100 daily and weekly newspapers and 160-plus local and regional websites, has launched a grass roots initiative to better support local businesses in the community. The Buy Local program is designed to remind consumers to invest in their community by investing in their local businesses.

"These businesses make up the fabric of their town. We know that consumers can have a major impact on maintaining the quality of life in their communities by supporting local businesses," said Sean Burke, GateHouse Media New England President and Group Publisher.

"Through these efforts Wicked Local will engage and build awareness with consumers as we drive awareness and traffic to local businesses and bring together the community through this Buy Local community partnership," said Burke.

The campaign kicks off with multi-media advertising to consumers about the benefits of buying local.

"This isn't a short-term program. This is an investment in our communities," said Burke.

Through this program businesses can purchase marketing packages with competitive pricing and additional promotional support, including point of purchase materials to reinforce their involvement in the program, and in the community. Consumers will have the opportunity to win prizes, get involved via social media, and interact with local businesses through a variety of means.

Details on upcoming consumer promotions will be promoted through GateHouse's multimedia portfolio of products. Businesses interested in getting involved should visit info.wickedlocalmediasolutions.com/buylocal.
