What: Aristocratic in appearance and slow growing, Abies koreana, commonly called Korean fir, has wonderful layered branches with deep green needles that have startling bright white undersides. Unique amongst the true firs, this tree bears intense violet-blue cones as a young plant, low enough on the tree to be enjoyed for their beauty. This restrained evergreen is a great choice for smaller gardens.
Where: The Korean fir prefers full sun and well-drained soil.
Size: The evergreen grows to be 18 feet tall and 8 feet wide when mature.
Care: Once it is established, it will require occasional watering during dry weather. It is a slow grower with a lovely branching pattern; prune only if a branch is broken or misshaped.
