Now Christmas trees are popping up in homes, restaurants, supermarkets and schools, it might be time to nip out and grab yourself one before they're all gone.
Whether you're in to real or artificial trees - there is an art to selecting them and a set of criteria to consider before placing one in pride of place in your home.
Here's what you should take into account before rushing out to buy a Christmas tree:
Ask yourself...
Do you want a real, artificial or coloured tree?
Whether it's your first Christmas in a new house or your 40th in your forever home, you need to decide on whether you want a real, artificial or coloured tree.
This could set the tone for your Christmas decorations - especially if you opt for a pink, blue, or even white tree.
Will it fit in your room?
Buying a tree either too big or too small for your room is disappointing.
However, when looking at them in a store or field, it can be tricky to imagine how your selected tree would look in your house.
We suggest measuring the space where you intend to put your Christmas tree, and take those measurements along with a tape measure to the store or field.
Will you be able to get it through the door?
This is a simple one - but extremely important.
Despite trees coming boxed or wrapped up, they can be deceiving and cause more harm then good when trying to manoeuvre them through the front door, the house, and into the living room.
Do you have any small children or animals?
You've more than likely seen videos of animals knocking over Christmas trees.
However it's not only animals who target trees but also small children.
You must consider your children and animals' safety before buying a Christmas tree and installing it in your home.
Countdown to Christmas
What trees are available?
Artificial and coloured trees
One of the perks of having an artificial or coloured tree is being able to simply take them out of storage, dust them off and re-decorate them.
The trend for unnatural colours means you can have anything from a white, pink or blue tree - as well as green, of course.
Nordmann Fir
If you're going for a real tree, this is the most popular, mostly liked for its symmetry and achieving even bauble distribution.
It also has great needle retention, meaning less hoovering up but you may need to water it from time to time.
It's a bit more expensive than other varieties and it doesn't smell of much, but the dark green broad needles mean it's super child and pet friendly.
Norway Spruce
The traditional tree we've had for years and popular since Victorian times.
Bright green in colour it has a lovely smell with spiky needles.
This tree should last for up to three weeks, so don't buy it too early.
Fraser Fir
Quite similar to the Norway spruce the popular American fir doesn't drop its needles as quickly.
The narrow base makes it great for fitting into tight spaces and it smells nice.
Serbian Spruce
Again, this is similar to the Norway spruce but with a bit of a blue underside to the needles.
Perfect for smaller homes.
Blue Spruce
With a distinctive blue hue, they have the strongest pine smell of all the trees but be warned, they've also got the sharpest needles.
This does help discourage pets from climbing them.
The needles hold up well and the tree has good symmetrical form.
Douglas Fir
This fir has very soft, dark green or blue-green needles, which it retains well.
It also has a citrus fragrance.
Lodgepole Pine
An American native, it's a much bushier tree with yellow-green needles, which it retains well.
Noble Fir
Another American native fir, with grey-green needles which tilt upwards.
It has strong branches so ideal for heavier decorations.
A bit harder to find in the UK and more expensive but needle retention is good.
