“Grey’s Anatomy” is officially ABC’s longest-running scripted series ever, and it scrubbed in for its 19th season on Thursday, October 6, 2022. The medical drama stars Ellen Pompeo as Interim Chief of Surgery Meredith Grey, and the large ensemble cast is filled out by others who play returning doctors and new interns. This year, for the first time ever, Pompeo’s role will be smaller as the actress is reducing her involvement in the series; she’s reportedly only appearing in eight episodes, though she’ll continue to serve as the narrator. The tagline for the 2022-23 season is “Begin Again,” as it introduces a quintet of interns who are struggling to make their mark in the medical world, just like how the original pilot started back in 2005.
