WP2 field team is on the “starting blocks” for new fieldwork season

The WP2 mobile team is ready for the third year of the project (T2.1 of FORGENIUS). After Populus nigra, Pinus pinaster, Fagus sylvatica and Pinus sylvestris in 2021 and 2022, the WP2 field team will carry out the phenotypic measurements1 and the sample collection of Quercus robur in spring and Picea abies in autumn 20232.
The first appointment of this spring will be in Pavia, with our Italian colleagues, and our WP2 leader, Maurizio Mencuccini. The aim of the meeting will be to intercalibrate each other for phenotypic measurements and sampling strategy on Quercus.
After this sample collection in the field, our WP2 laboratory colleagues will be taking up “the baton” in the labs at Centro de Investigación Ecológica y Aplicaciones Forestales (CREAF) in Barcelona, Bordeaux, Clermont-Ferrand or the Institut national de recherche pour l'agriculture, l'alimentation et l'environnement (INRAE) in Avignon to assess the physiologic traits. Key traits involved in resistance to water loss during stress period.
