This paper doll was made from my original illustration and is about 9" tall.
Saint Gregory the Great, Pope Gregory I, was born in Rome in 540 and died in Rome on March 12, 604. He had a tremendous impact on the development of the Catholic Church through the Middle Ages, and even in the 21st century, his influence can still be felt. His feast August 21. Pope Saint Gregory the Great, pray for us!
This paper doll is designed to illustrate aspects of Saint Gregory's life. Symbols are worked into his garments, and the pages have captions with information on Gregorian Chant, Gregory's writings, and so on. Gregory wrote that a good bishop should be a physician of souls. He seems to have done his best to live up to this ideal and to follow the greatest Physician and Healer of Souls.
