What is the RAV4?
The RAV4 is Toyota's immensely popular two-row crossover SUV. It has many of the usual small SUV strengths, including an easy-to-drive nature and lots of passenger and cargo room, but doesn't stand out in any one area. It doesn't pack the power of some of its competitors, it's not quite as pleasant to drive as it could be, and its engine can get noisy when it's pushed. If you need a spacious everyday runabout with lots of utility, though, the RAV4 more than meets the need.
We don't expect much to change for 2024, as 2022 brought a number of small updates to the RAV4's overall lineup, including a freshened-up exterior and more interior amenities. Most of this car's rivals — the likes of the Mazda CX-5, Honda CR-V, Kia Sportage and Hyundai Tucson — are all-new or recently updated, but Toyota likes to hold on to its models for a bit longer than some other automakers before ushering in something totally fresh. So we expect the RAV4, which had its last complete redesign for 2019, to be largely the same as it takes yet another lap around the sun.
