Ok! First thing I need to say is that this series is NOT FOR CHILDREN! There's no nudity or full-blown sex scenes. But there are extremely suggestive images, and most episodes have a fairly suggestive title such as, "Please Touch My Nerima Daikon," and "Sa Rang Hey Yo With My Balls." So, though this anime features cute pandas and catchy songs, it's not for kids! Ok! Now that the public service announcement is over, to the review! STORY: The story revolves around a band, The Nerima Daikon Brothers. ((A daikon is a big, Japanese veggie. Something like a radish.)) The whole show revolves around them coming up with some way to make money to build their Daikon Dome so they can play their music. Between plans, they farm and live in a big daikon field. Along the way, however, they meet odd schemers that take people's money (including theirs) and they take it upon themselves to take the money back and hopefully keep it for their dome. I like the simple idea of the storyline and it allows for some very funny moments. CHARACTERS: There are a few main characters, we'll start with the Nerima Daikon Brothers first! Hideki and Ichiro are brothers and Mako is their cousin. Pandaikon (the panda) shows up in the first episode. He has daikon leaves sprouting from his head. Pandaikon soon becomes Ichiro's cuddle toy seeing as the panda is so soft (which leads to Ichiro's odd obsession with the animal). Other characters include the rental guy. He's a faceless character that lends the group whatever they need (except money) in return for a song. There's also the outlandish Detective Widget who starts out trying to put the trio in jail for stealing money from corrupt businesses. There are many parodies in the show that many Americans won't understand, that, however, doesn't take away from the comedy of the show. ((And there is one very special, very funny parody that Americans will get quite quickly.)) DUBS: The dubs are quite good. The songs can sound a little off at times, but still, the story flows very nicely in English. SONGS: The music is extremely catchy. It's blues-y with lots of upbeat tempos. The only problem is that they use the same 4 or 5 songs throughout the series (though, the words are changed), and it can get tedious after a while. I love the music as long as I don't watch the show all the way through in one day. All-in-all, very funny anime that's meant for adults. It's good to know that adults can have some randomly funny and suggestive hilarity in their lives. Just because we're physically grown up doesn't mean we don't want some wild in our lives! Big Smiles!Read full review
Excellent condition, even considering the minor scratch. Everything works and its been so hard to find the complete set of this anime for how hard it is to find and at the price I paid. Definitely worth every cent! I bought 1 disc ten years ago and it cost me 35 dollars, so to get the complete anime for about that price I was elated!
