The Babysitter 3 has yet to be confirmed by Netflix and considering it's been more than two years since the release of The Babysitter: Killer Queen, we are getting less confident we'll see another movie.

Until we hear a definite no, there's always hope though, especially as director McG – who also co-wrote the movie – confirmed plans for a third outing around the time of Killer Queen's release.

"We have the story, and I firmly put it in the hands of the audience. If the audience wants it, they'll see it and we'll do it and, if they say, 'No, I don't like this', then we won't. And I would love to because I would love to conclude the arc of the Cole character," he told CBR.

McG does still have a connection at Netflix as he signed up to direct new body-swap comedy Family Leave in November 2022. Maybe once he's wrapped on that, we might get some movement on the possible horror threequel.

While we wait for any news on The Babysitter 3 though, here's everything you need to know about the potential third movie.

The Babysitter 3 potential release date: When can we expect The Babysitter 3?

As mentioned above, The Babysitter 3 has yet to be confirmed by Netflix as of December 2022, so we don't yet have an official release date for the third movie.

The Babysitter: Killer Queen arrived three years after the first movie in September 2020, but wasn't even announced until September 2019.

Even if the threequel gets confirmed soon, it's unlikely that production will start early enough for the third movie to come out in 2023. We reckon a 2024 release on Netflix is more likely, potentially September 2024 as that's roughly when the previous movies came out.

The Babysitter 3 cast: Who's coming back for The Babysitter 3?

Since The Babysitter 3 hasn't been confirmed, we don't yet have any official cast announcements, but we can make some educated guesses.

Given that McG has spoken about the third movie wrapping up Cole's arc, then we can expect to see Judah Lewis back as Cole and after the events of Killer Queen, Jenna Ortega should be back as Phoebe.

However, since the release of Killer Queen, Ortega has become one of the biggest stars around with her roles in Scream and Wednesday. She might end up being too in-demand to return for the third movie.

What's also not clear is whether the blood cult members will be back for another attempt at Cole's life. It's not revealed whether the failed ritual in the sequel means a permanent death for them or just a return to limbo.

Earlier in the sequel, Max explains that since they died in the first movie, they've been in limbo and if they didn't complete the ritual by sunrise, they'd return to limbo for two years before they can try again.

We imagine this is the route the third movie will go down with them all returning (again), so that could mean returns for Robbie Amell's Max, Bella Thorne's Allison, Hana Mae Lee's Sonya, Andrew Bachelor's John and Emily Alyn Lind's Melanie.

Samara Weaving's Bee played a smaller role in the sequel, but we'd expect to see at least a cameo in the third movie, if it happens.

The Babysitter 3 plot: How does The Babysitter Killer Queen set it up?

Long story short, Killer Queen reveals that Melanie is also part of the blood cult and working with Bee on the latest attempt at the ritual.

It all looks to have gone to plan as the cult has the blood of the sacrificed and the blood of the innocent (ie Cole's). However, Bee has actually been working all this time to end things once and for all.

She's been manipulating things to ensure Cole gets closer to his new classmate Phoebe (Ortega), who Bee also babysat when she was younger. Bee made the deal with the Devil to save Phoebe's life after a car crash during her childhood.

Cole and Phoebe had slept together, so his blood is no longer "innocent" and when the cult members drink the blood cocktail, they all die. Bee is the last to take a drink as she's the "last demon" and everything seems to be back to normal for Cole.

However, in the credits scene, it's revealed that the 'Devil's Bible' which contains the ritual hasn't been destroyed and is ready for anyone who wants to try their luck.

McG said previously that he was a big fan of the "surprises" in Killer Queen, such as Melanie and Bee effectively swapping positions as villain and hero from the first movie, and he teased more to come in the potential third movie.

"I love those surprises, and there's a couple of big surprises left for the third one," he told CBR.

Will we get to see what those surprises are? Watch this space for any new information.

The Babysitter 3 trailer: Any footage from The Babysitter 3 yet?

Unsurprisingly, there's no footage of The Babysitter 3 as it hasn't been confirmed by Netflix, let alone started filming.

We didn't get the Killer Queen trailer until two weeks before its release, so even if the threequel is confirmed, we're likely in for a long wait for any new footage.
