Paget made her debut as Emily Prentiss, a supervisory special agent and BAU Unit Chief, on season 2, but her role has been inconsistent since then. She left after season 7, was a guest on seasons 9 and 11, and returned as a main character during season 12. Paget has also appeared in a few episodes of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

OUT: Thomas Gibson as Aaron Hotchner

Thomas was an original cast member, playing BAU unit chief and former senior supervisory special agent Aaron Hotchner on season 1. Thomas was "dismissed" from the series during filming for season 12 due to an altercation on set, according to The Hollywood Reporter. On the show, Aaron and his son were forced into the witness protection program, which is why he had to leave his job at the FBI.
