- JAG stars David James Elliott and Catherine Bell are returning to NCIS: Los Angeles in May 2019 for a multi-episode reunion special.
- Their return to TV has sparked rumors that JAG is getting a reboot.
- CBS declined to comment to TVLine, but the NCIS: LA show-runner reportedly is open to the idea.
JAG is beloved for a lot of reasons in the television world. Not only did it endlessly entertain audiences for its 10-year run, but the hit series also led to some spinoffs you may have heard of: NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, and NCIS: New Orleans, to name a few. So you can imagine fans’ delight when CBS announced David James Elliott and Catherine Bell were reprising their characters, Harmon Rabb Jr. and Sarah “Mac” MacKenzie, for multiple episodes of NCIS: LA. But what if the reunion didn’t end there?
Rumors are circulating that David and Catherine’s presence on the crime drama is actually an unofficial pilot for a full-fledged JAG revival, according to TVLine. The possibility was first hinted at by Deadline, but it seems a recent interview with NCIS: LA show-runner R. Scott Gemmill made the idea seem even more real.
“I never say never to anything,” he told TVLine. The caveat? It’s up to the network to decide. “It’ really up to them. That’s not my call to make,” he added.
Before you get too excited, keep in mind that CBS declined to comment when asked about a JAG return so it’s still up in the air. But Scott promised the NCIS: LA crossover will include a “really cool [new] permutation” for David and Catherine’s roles, promising a “whole different direction” for Harm and Mac. Interesting...
It may seem impossible to be patient, but at least we’ll get to see Harm, Mac, Hetty, Deeks, Kensi, and the rest of your favorite agents on NCIS: LA in May. But if the reboot falls through, may we suggest the JAG cast stay in Los Angeles forever?
