Columnar trees

Columnar trees have strong upward growth. Many columnar trees remain relatively narrow, but others can grow outwards into broad columnar shapes over time. These trees create a distinct vertical impact in the garden, landscape or streetscape. Columnar trees are highly multifunctional. Planted next to one another they can form a visual or auditive barrier. In this form they can also serve as a windbreak. In a landscape they can create or enhance a line of sight. In the front or side garden, or planted next to a large building, they aid integration within the surroundings. They can function as highly formal and structural elements. At an entrance, they create a grand, imposing impression. In a more natural environmental they provide contrasting structure. They are ideal for small gardens or narrow streets.
