About the tree: I acquired this Miyajima Japanese white pine in 2015. It was part of a group of Japanese white pines that was imported from Japan quite a few years ago. A number of the trees were subsequently stolen from the bonsai nursery that imported them. A couple of years after the theft the owner discovered a few of the stolen trees at a flea market and had to buy them back from the seller, who had acquired them from others. The trees had not been well cared for and had dead branches, major wire scars, etc.
This tree was the last of the batch and had been sitting at the bonsai nursery for 9 or 10 years. Although it needed a major re-working, I recognized its potential and purchased it. Since then I’ve re-styled it and brought it back to excellent health.
