An unusual selection, Metasequoia glyptostroboides 'Matthaei Broom' is relatively slow growing and suitable for small gardens with congested branches once established with soft, bright green summer leaves.
This is a deciduous conifer and the leaves will fall in autumn after they turn golden yellow or bronze.
- Position: Full sun or light, dappled shade.
- Soil: Moist, fertile soil. Metasequoia glyptostroboides 'Matthaei Broom' particularly enjoys damp or wet sites.
- Hardiness: Hardy.
- Rate of Growth: Very slow to slow.
- Habit: Metasequoia glyptostroboides 'Matthaei Broom' will grow to be a branching, rounded very small tree in many years.
- Height: up to 2 - 3 m (6 - 10 ft) in many years
- Spread: 2 m (6 ft).
