Sonja – Red Tail Hawk (Buteo jamaicensis)

Sonja was found with a “self-amputated” wing. We’re not sure how it happened, but we’re guessing that she was likely electrocuted on a faulty power pole, survived, but left with a damaged wing that slowly atrophied & eventually fell off. Not being able to fly nor hunt, Sonja had to remain with Badger Run. Since she’s not a fan of traveling to presentations, she stays at Badger Run on static display for folks that come out to tour our facility.
