This was purchased for a dental office running Dentrix and works perfectly. I shopped around extensively before this purchase. For the price range, this is the best scanner for a small volume tasks that will be clear, easy & quick to use. It sits up front to scan cards, patient referrals and the like. It sends them to Dentrix, an email or another preset with the push of a button. It can take a while to set up the programming, but the ease of use after is worth it.

I bought this because of the Xerox name, and because I need a small scanner with a multi-sheet feeder. But everything about this screams JUNK! First, the installation process is anything but self-evident. The instructions in the manual and quick set-up guide are both incomplete and wrong. The on-line assistance is far more interested in capturing my name and address for furture marketing than actually doing anything helpful. Once I did get it working (about 25 minutes) I discovered two things:

1. She sheet feeder simply doesn't work. There is no way to get the scanner to recognize that there are documents to be scanned in the feeder.

2. The front feeder, meant for single sheet feed and for when the scanner is out of the docking station, works but it is nearly impossible to get sheets to feed straight. I had a single 8-1/2" x 11" sheet I was practicing with and after 9 attempts not one was usable. The machine grabs the sheet but doesn't do so in a straight manner, so no matter how I try to align the sheet, as soon as the thing grabs hold it's off center by a large angle.

Embarrassing to have the Xerox name on it!

We have had 2 of these in our business and they worked great, so we decided to purchase another one for our 3rd work station. This one will not scanner face down, when the other ones scan face down or up depends on what mode we put it in. And it would stop scanning and we have to reset it all the time.
So I called Xerox customer service thinking there is something that needs to be adjusted then we're good to go. They told us that it's a defect and so asked us to send it back to them. On they're item return email, it sounded like they will send us the new one with a shipping label so we can send ours back, then I found out later we had to pay shipping to send their defective unit back. 3 weeks later still haven't receive my replacement unit yet.
I should've sent it back to Amazon instead. I give it a 2 stars because the unit if it works is great but if you have to deal with Xerox directly it's another story! Just hope you get your money worth before you have to deal with them and maybe buy a new one.

We may be expecting a $2000-scanner-usage from this scanner, because we are using it to digitize old records, using it about 10-15 hours per week. This is the third one we have had over the last year, and I have grown unimpressed with its durability for a $300-$400 scanner. After a month or so it starts to stick and pull multiple pages at a time and hence grows frustrating to what is an already monotonous job of scanning old records. My employees grow irritable that they have to stop listening to their music and pay attention to the scanner!!
We have moved up to a Fujitsu scanner that seems to so far be maintaining it's durability better than this one.

Right from the moment it came, it was a trouble. Tried calling the support and they could not resolve it. The returns department told me do to a lot of stuff, like printing invoices, faxing ti to them. Nothing really worked. They never even got back to check what was going wrong. The machine was scanning pages in its own directions. After the 5th or 6th page only half of the page would be scanned. It was a headache. Thanks to amazon for a great and smooth return. Then i bought a scansnap....you know what, my whole idea of scanning changed. Scansnap from fujitsu is one of the best options available for MAC.
