The Bassian thrush is found in wet forest and rainforest along the much of the southeast and east coast of Australia. It is one of two thrushes native to Australia along with the introduced European Blackbird and Song-Thrush. Closely related to the Russet Tailed Thrush, with which it overlaps in distribution in parts of its range in Queensland and Northern NSW, see:- vimeo.com/107530134. This bird was filmed in Jervis Bay Botanic Gardens, some 200 kms south from Sydney.
